If you could pack all the highlights of the Himalayas into one trek—lush pine forests, meadows, glacial lakes, snowy passes, gushing waterfalls, and apple orchards—the Buran Ghati Trek would be it.

Starting from the old-world village of Janglikh and ending in the apple country of Barua, this trail blends wilderness with cultural richness. Perfect for photographers, first-time Himalayan trekkers, and seasoned souls looking for something raw yet manageable.


🗓️ Day-Wise Itinerary

🚙 Day 1: Shimla → Janglikh (2,500 m)

  • Scenic 8–9 hr drive from Shimla via Narkanda, Rohru, or Khadapathar

  • Meet your trek leader at the bus stand, brief at base village

  • Explore Janglikh’s heritage homes and temples

  • 🌌 Stay: Camp/guesthouse under the stars with bonfire & dinner


🌲 Day 2: Janglikh → Dayara Thach

  • Start your trek with easy ascents through thick pine and deodar forest

  • Beautiful meadows open up as you gain altitude

  • 📷 Tip: This is one of the most photogenic stretches

  • 🏕️ Stay: Campsite at Dayara Thach (~4–5 hrs trek)


🏞️ Day 3: Dayara Thach → Litham Thach

  • Hike through gushing streams, birch trees, and sweeping views of the Dhauladhar Range

  • Cross Chandranahan stream and reach the picturesque Litham campsite

  • ⛺ Three-sided alpine views—waterfalls, snow peaks, and grassy valleys


❄️ Day 4: Chandranahan Lake Excursion (Acclimatization)

  • Morning hike to Chandranahan Waterfall & Glacier Lake

  • A sacred, glacial amphitheatre surrounded by snow

  • Spend quiet moments near the stone cairns; return to Litham

  • 🌌 Overnight at Litham


🧗 Day 5: Litham → Dunda

  • Begin ascent through alpine terrain and Rupin Valley views

  • Pass Gunas Waterfall and snowy ridges

  • Reach Dunda campsite, the final stop before crossing the pass

  • 🏕️ Stay at 13,000+ ft with views of Buran Ghati


🏔️ Day 6: Dunda → Buran Pass (15,500 ft) → Munirang

  • Early alpine start—challenging but thrilling climb on snow

  • Cross the iconic Buran Ghati Pass with incredible views and prayer flags

  • 2–3 hr snow descent to Munirang Campsite

  • 🌌 Coldest night, but most rewarding memories


🍎 Day 7: Munirang → Barua Village → Sangla

  • Descend through changing landscapes—streams, orchards, pine forests

  • Reach Barua village, meet the locals, share stories

  • Option to drive to Sangla or Reckong Peo for onward journey

  • 🛻 End of trek. Return to Shimla via private cab or shared vehicle (optional)
